Gascon’s role in Emilia Perez, where she portrays a former cartel boss undergoing gender-affirming surgery and reinventing herself in modern-day Mexico, has caught the attention of audiences and critics alike. However, the competition for Best Actress remains fierce, with Demi Moore (The Substance) and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) also vying for the top honor.
Another significant contender this year is Wicked, the Broadway musical adaptation, which garnered 10 nominations. Other films earning multiple nominations include The Brutalist (10 nominations), Conclave (8 nominations), and A Complete Unknown (8 nominations).

A surprise nomination also came for Romanian-American actor Sebastian Stan, who portrays former U.S. President Donald Trump in The Apprentice, a movie that sharply critiques ambition and ego.
With these exciting nominations, the race for the Oscars promises to be highly competitive, with Emilia Perez, Wicked, and The Brutalist among the leading contenders.
