Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed the state’s openness to investors as part of efforts to drive economic growth and development.
The governor made this statement during a meeting in Akure with the management board of Sahara Energy, which has recently been licensed by the Federal Government, through the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), to manage two new oil fields (PPL 270 and PPL 271) located in the riverine communities of Ilaje Local Government Area.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed his gratitude for Sahara Energy’s investment commitment and assured the company of the state’s full support.
“Ondo State is fortunate at this time,” Aiyedatiwa said. “Although the licenses are issued by the Federal Government, we assure you of our full support to ensure your activities flourish.
“We remain committed to maintaining Ondo as the safest state in the country and fostering an
investor-friendly climate,” he added.
The governor emphasized that the government alone cannot achieve comprehensive development and reiterated the state’s readiness to welcome more investors. He also urged host communities to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for Sahara Energy to operate smoothly for the benefit of both the state and the communities.
Speaking during the meeting, the Chairman of Sahara Energy’s Board, Engr. Funsho Kupolokun, described the visit as an essential step toward beginning the company’s operations in Ondo State.
Kupolokun, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and a native of Ondo State, stated: “We are here to share good news with the Ondo State government, and it must begin with His Excellency. Before commencing operations, we seek the governor’s permission and blessings to ensure a smooth working relationship with the state.”
He commended the governor for creating an investor-friendly environment and pledged that Sahara Energy would comply with all state regulations.
