A neurosurgeon, Dr. Collinus Onuigbo, working with the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, Anambra State, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The kidnapping occurred late Tuesday evening in front of Dr. Onuigbo’s residence, just meters away from the teaching hospital. His family has reportedly been restless since the incident, making efforts to ensure his safe release.
This development comes just three days after Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo launched “Operation Udo ga-achị” (Peace Must Reign), a joint security initiative aimed at combating crime and restoring peace across the state.
Police Response
The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the abduction. He stated that the State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono-Itam, has ordered immediate action, mobilizing officers to rescue the victim.
“The command has launched a manhunt for the kidnappers, working with available clues to locate and rescue the victim,” Ikenga assured.
Efforts are ongoing, and the public is urged to provide any useful information that could aid the police in their investigation.
