Naija247news gathered that Mr. Adebayo made this call during a press conference held in Ibadan on Tuesday, where he commended the Ikeja NBA for its consistent efforts in advocating for the rights of citizens and ensuring justice prevails.

“The Ikeja NBA has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to human rights issues. They have been at the forefront of many significant legal battles, ensuring that the voices of the marginalized are heard and their rights are protected,” Adebayo stated.

Naija247news understands that Mr. Adebayo highlighted several instances where the Ikeja NBA had taken proactive steps to address human rights violations. These include:

* Providing pro bono legal services: The Ikeja NBA has consistently provided free legal aid to indigent citizens facing various legal challenges, including those unjustly detained or facing human rights abuses.

* Engaging in public interest litigation: The branch has actively engaged in public interest litigation, challenging government policies and actions that infringe on the rights of citizens.

* Raising awareness: The Ikeja NBA has been instrumental in raising public awareness about human rights issues through seminars, workshops, and public campaigns.

According to Naija247news, Mr. Adebayo called on the Ibadan NBA to follow the example set by its Ikeja counterpart. He emphasized the crucial role lawyers play in upholding the rule of law and protecting the rights of citizens.

“Lawyers have a moral and professional obligation to defend the rights of the people,” Adebayo said. “The Ibadan NBA has the potential to be a powerful force for positive change in the region. I urge them to embrace their role as champions of justice and actively engage in human rights advocacy.”

Naija247news reports that the Ibadan NBA is yet to respond to Mr. Adebayo’s call.
