Oferekpe- Agbaja (Ebonyi) Jan.16, 2025 (NAN) Gov. Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has disclosed that only one political appointee from his community, is in his government in spite of it having the luck of producing the governor.

The governor, while reacting to the quest for more appointments in his government by the community, remarked that the appointee, was even a senior special adviser.
“This community gave the All Progressives Congress (APC) more than 3,000 votes during the 2023 general elections yet has only one political appointee.
“I however, tell my people that whenever they agitate for more political appointments that I am the government and the government is here.
“When you say you have not benefited much from this governent, do you know how much it has spent on infrastructure in the community?” he queried.
He disclosed that more than 20 projects were ongoing at the Information Communication Technology (ICT) University sited in the community among other infrastructural interventions.
“Five of those projects cost more that N900 million each while others cost more between N1 billion to N6 billion each.
“The community primary school has the mark of government presence as you cannot find such mark anywhere in the state.
“Massive road construction is ongoing as the LGA chairman is
directly or indirectly from the community because his great grandfather was born in it,” he said.
Nwifuru counseled that there should be limitation to appointments because when everyone was brought on board, the work would be unavailable.
“Do you want me to stop the infrastructural projects in the community and appoint more people as you are benefitting more than those with numerous appointees?
“I will however, electrify all areas that need electricity and construct a town hall immediately you provide the land,” he said.
He however, acknowledged the numerous sacrifices made by the community members since his political journey commenced in 2022 and urged them to be patient.
Chief Elias Nwibo, Chairman of the community’s town union, said the event commenced 15 years ago and affords indigenes both at home and diaspora, opportunities to interact and celebrate.
“Our son, the governor, started sponsoring the event alone after emerging the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and earned his chieftaincy title of Onwa (Moon) from the event,” he said.
