In response to a renewed communal conflict between the Ifon and Ilobu communities, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has ordered an immediate curfew to be imposed on both communities. The curfew will be enforced from 7 pm to 7 am daily.

The governor’s decision comes as part of measures to prevent further escalation of the crisis. To ensure peace and security, a contingent of security personnel, including the Army, Police, and Civil Defence, has been deployed to the affected areas.
The statement further outlined the steps being taken by the state government to address the issue:
• The curfew will remain in place from Thursday, January 16, 2025, until further notice.
• An enlarged committee comprising community representatives, service chiefs, the State Council of Obas, and other relevant bodies will be established to seek a lasting resolution.
• Stakeholders are urged to collaborate with the government to peacefully resolve the dispute.
The statement concluded by warning that anyone found inciting or engaging in further violence during the curfew will face legal consequences in accordance with Nigerian law.
