On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Nnabuoku was arraigned on an amended nine-count charge, including criminal conspiracy and money laundering. His co-defendant, Felix Nweke, opted for a plea bargain. During the court proceedings, the prosecution informed the judge that the charges had been amended and requested that they be read to Nnabuoku.
After the charges were read, Nnabuoku pleaded not guilty. The prosecution then requested a trial date and sought the defendant’s remand in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Centre.
In response, Nnabuoku’s defense counsel, Isidore Udenko, presented a bail application. However, the prosecution opposed the request, arguing that Nnabuoku posed a flight risk. Justice Omotosho granted bail to Nnabuoku in the sum of N500 million, with two sureties each required to provide the same amount.
The sureties must own landed properties in Abuja, each valued at no less than N250 million. They will also be required to submit an affidavit of means, bank statements, and three years’ worth of tax clearance, all of which must be verified by the court’s registrar.
The trial has been set for January 31, 2025.
