Abuja, Oct. 18, 2024 (NAN) — The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has reported that the average retail price of petrol rose to N1,030.46 per litre in September 2024, a 64.55% increase from N626.21 recorded in September 2023. This marks a sharp rise of 24.08% from August 2024’s average of N830.46 per litre.
According to the NBS Petrol Price Watch report for September 2024, Katsina recorded the highest average petrol price at N1,096.15 per litre, followed by Ebonyi (N1,090.94) and Akwa Ibom (N1,085.71). Conversely, Yobe posted the lowest price at N939.38 per litre, with Sokoto and Kebbi at N961.67 and N986.67, respectively.
The North-West zone recorded the highest regional average at N1,036.52 per litre, while the North-East had the lowest at N1,014.55.
Additionally, the NBS reported a significant increase in diesel prices, with the average price per litre reaching N1,418.83 in September 2024, up 59.28% from N890.80 in September 2023.
