Namibia has barred a vessel suspected of carrying explosive materials destined for Israel from docking at its ports, according to state-run newspaper New Era. The MV Kathrin sought permission to stop at Walvis Bay port last Friday, but Namibian Justice Minister Yvonne Dausab intervened.

Minister Dausab explained, “Upon receiving reports that a vessel may be carrying weapons intended for Israel… I requested the relevant authorities not to allow the vessel MV Kathrin to dock at the Walvis Bay port.”
She noted that this decision is consistent with Namibia’s stance on Israel’s actions in Gaza and its commitment to not support or be complicit in alleged Israeli war crimes and human rights violations against Palestinians.
The decision follows heightened tensions in Gaza, where ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to significant casualties.
Namibia’s move also aligns with actions by other countries, such as South Africa, which has initiated legal proceedings against Israel for alleged genocide at the International Court of Justice.⬤
