Mike Ejiofor, former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), has attributed a viral video circulating after Adeola Ajayi’s appointment as the new DSS Director General to mischief makers. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ejiofor urged Ajayi to investigate the video’s origins.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!President Bola Tinubu recently appointed Ajayi, previously the Assistant Director-General of the DSS, to replace Yusuf Bichi. Additionally, Mohammed Mohammed was named Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), succeeding Ahmed Rufai. Bichi and Rufai had been retained in their roles since their appointments by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018.
Following these changes, social media saw an influx of videos showing supposed DSS personnel celebrating at the agency’s Abuja headquarters. Ejiofor dismissed these clips as either old or misleading, suggesting they were intended to create unrest. He emphasized that such reactions are common with new appointments and encouraged the new DSS chief to address these issues.
Ejiofor praised Ajayi, noting his extensive experience and successful management of challenging situations, such as in Rivers State. He expressed confidence that Ajayi would apply his skills effectively on a national level, uniting staff and contributing positively to national security.
