Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!German police have arrested a second suspect in connection with a stabbing attack that killed three people and injured eight others during a festival in Solingen. The suspect was detained late Saturday at a refugee housing facility near the site of the Friday night attack in Solingen’s city center.
This follows the earlier arrest of a 15-year-old boy who allegedly had prior knowledge of the attack but is not considered the main perpetrator. The victims, two men aged 56 and 67 and a 56-year-old woman, were targeted at random during the festival celebrating Solingen’s 650th anniversary.
The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack, though it has not provided evidence of a direct link to the attacker. Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the incident as a “horrific act,” and authorities have ramped up security in Solingen. The three-day anniversary celebrations were cancelled, and residents have been laying flowers and candles at the site in memory of the victims.
