Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, asserted on Thursday that he is free from corruption accusations as a public official. Speaking at the Michael Okpara Leadership Lecture and Award 2024 held at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Uzodinma urged fellow public officeholders to adhere to their legitimate means and avoid corrupt practices.

He attributed widespread corruption in Nigeria to an excessive pursuit of wealth and a lack of discipline among leaders. In his lecture titled “Service Above Others: Lessons from the Leadership Philosophy of Michael Okpara,” Uzodinma emphasized the importance of following the exemplary leadership of the late Premier of Eastern Nigeria to foster national prosperity.

Uzodinma also announced that the ongoing rehabilitation of the Egbema power plant will be completed and commissioned by the first quarter of 2025, a project he described as crucial for providing 24-hour electricity across Imo State.

Notable attendees included Cross River State Governor Prince Bassey Otu, Ebonyi State Deputy Governor Patricia Obila, former First Lady Patience Jonathan, and various current and former lawmakers.
