Haru clarified, “The DSS arrested six Polish nationals for their involvement in the protest. It is not the police that arrested the foreigners; it is the DSS.”
The tailor and 75 others were apprehended by the police, with Haru explaining, “We saw in the reports that the tailor was arrested by the DSS, but it was actually the police that arrested the tailor along with 75 others.”
The Polish nationals were detained following their participation in the #EndBadGovernance protests over the weekend. These demonstrations, now in their fourth day, have seen protesters waving Russian flags and calling for Russian intervention in Nigeria, prompting security forces to intensify their operations and apprehend foreign participants.
In response to the escalating situation, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf held an emergency meeting with security agency heads, including State Police Commissioner Salman Dogo. Following the meeting, Dogo warned, “The police and other security agencies will clamp down on anyone attempting to tamper with the state’s security.”
Governor Yusuf also announced a further relaxation of the existing curfew, adjusting it to 6 am to 6 pm, while assuring residents that security forces remain vigilant to prevent any disturbances. “We are committed to ensuring the security of Kano State and the well-being of our citizens. The relaxation of the curfew is aimed at easing the burden on our people while we continue to monitor the situation closely,” the governor stated. Despite the curfew adjustment, heightened security measures remain in place to maintain order in the state.
