NDLEA Arrests 17 Suspects, Seizes Over 31,000 Kilograms of Cannabis in Osun

Abuja, July 28, 2024 (NAN) – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reported the arrest of 17 suspects and the destruction of 31,250 kilograms of cannabis in Osun State. This announcement was made in a statement by NDLEA spokesman Mr. Femi Babafemi on Sunday in Abuja.

On Friday, July 26, NDLEA operatives conducted a raid in the Owena forest located in the Oriade Local Government Area of Osun. During the operation, they destroyed cannabis crops on a 12.5-hectare farmland and confiscated 84 kilograms of processed marijuana along with a single-barrel Dane gun.

In another operation, NDLEA officers in Kaduna intercepted a 32-year-old woman during a stop-and-search patrol along the Kaduna-Zaria highway on Saturday, July 27. The suspect was found in possession of 573 rounds of 7.60 live ammunition, which she allegedly intended to deliver to bandits in Sokoto.

Additionally, a 35-year-old man was arrested on the Kaduna-Zaria road in connection with the seizure of 25,000 ampoules of Pentazocine injection. Another suspect was apprehended in Kano following the confiscation of 37,880 ampoules of Diazepam injection along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

NDLEA operatives also arrested two suspects with 55 jumbo wraps of Ghana Loud on Friday, July 26, at Oloko along the Badagry-Seme road in Lagos. On the same day, officers patrolling the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway arrested a 30-year-old suspect with 20 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 10.500 kilograms.

In Bauchi State, two suspects were arrested on Thursday, July 25, with 315 blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 204.750 kilograms along the Maiduguri bypass in Bauchi town.

These arrests and seizures underscore the NDLEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety.
