The untimely demise of Nollywood actress Adejumoke Aderounmu, best known for portraying “Esther” in Funke Akindele’s renowned TV series Jenifa’s Diary, has left the entertainment industry in shock.

Aderounmu’s brother, Adeola Aderounmu, confirmed her passing through a somber Instagram post featuring her obituary photo, expressing his grief with the words, “You are in a better place now, my sister.”

Close friend Oluwabanke Funmi also shared the heartbreaking news on Twitter, offering condolences and reflecting on the painful reality of Aderounmu’s departure.

Born on March 26, 1984, Aderounmu breathed her last on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at a private hospital, the cause of her demise yet undisclosed. Her funeral service took place at Owu Baptist Church in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

A poignant obituary circulating on social media, reportedly from her family, commemorates Aderounmu’s life, describing her as a cherished sister, daughter, and aunt.

Hailing from Abeokuta, Aderounmu embarked on her acting journey after completing her education, quickly rising to prominence with her role as Esther in Jenifa’s Diary. Her portrayal of the spirited and resolute character earned her widespread admiration and cemented her status as a versatile actress.
