Nigeria’s Lagos State Ranks 19th in Time Out’s List of Best Cities to Visit in 2024

British media and hospitality company, Time Out, has unveiled its list of the best cities to visit in 2024, with Lagos securing the 19th spot. The rankings, based on a survey of over 20,000 city dwellers worldwide and insights from Time Out’s editors, evaluated cities on various criteria, including food quality and affordability, culture, nightlife, community vibes, green spaces, historic sites, and overall appeal.

New York City claimed the top spot, with Cape Town, South Africa, coming in second among the 50 cities listed. Lagos, Africa’s most populous city, stood out for its diverse offerings, catering to different preferences and lifestyles. Time Out encouraged global citizens to explore Lagos, emphasizing its attractions such as swanky resorts, diverse food options, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful beaches like Oniru Beach.

The city’s distinct districts, including Victoria Island, Lekki, and the mainland, were highlighted for their unique experiences. The list acknowledged Lagos as not only a great place to visit but also a city with qualities that make it attractive for living.

Lagos surpassed cities like Melbourne, Australia; Naples, Italy; Singapore; Miami, US; Dubai, UAE; Beijing, China; and Montreal, Canada, securing its position at 19th on the global ranking.
