In a statement signed by the National President, Nonso Ubajaka, and the Honorary Secretary, Frank Nneji, ALBON stated that its member-companies are actively working to ensure more passengers benefit from the government’s ticket rebate before the offer concludes.

ALBON reassured intending travelers that rebate tickets will continue to be issued on designated routes nationwide until January 4, 2024. Anticipating the return journeys of those who traveled during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the association has mobilized its members for the upcoming travel period.

Additionally, ALBON is collaborating with state-owned transit companies, including Gombe State Mass Transit and Bornu State Mass Transit, to participate in the initiative for the return leg of the seasonal travels.

Passengers at various bus terminals and motor parks in Lagos, such as ABC Transport PLC, Okeyson Motors, Izuchukwu Motors, E.Ekesons, Sunquick, Gobison Transport, and Vienna View Ltd, expressed gratitude to the President and his administration for providing timely relief from high fares during challenging economic times.

The discounted tickets, which were available from December 21, saw east-bound passengers paying 50% of the prevailing fare. For instance, some passengers indicated they paid between N18,000 and N18,200 instead of the regular fare of about N36,000.

Mrs. Ifeyinwa Okonkwo, a passenger, shared that the rebate offered significant relief to her family, enabling her to travel with her two children at the discounted rate of N18,000 each.

The special fare discount, initiated on December 20 and implemented by ALBON members from the following day, will continue until January 4, 2024. Government-approved routes for the fare slash include travel from Lagos to major cities in the north, south-east, and south-south, along with various other destinations nationwide. Additional motor parks where discounts can be obtained were recently named by the Presidency.
