An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 26-year-old driver, Umar Abdullahi, to six months in prison for stealing a motorcycle.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Abdullahi after he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Bokkos, however, gave him an option to pay twenty thousand naira as fine. And ordered him to pay another sixty-eight naira for the unrecovered motorcycle.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on Oct. 9, at the Angwan Rogo police station by Sani Umar, the complainant.

The prosecutor said that the convict dishonestly took the motorcycle valued sixty-eight naira and ran away with it until he was arrested by the police.

Gokwat said that the offence contravened the provisions of the Plateau Penal Code. (
