Over 3,000 Unclaimed International Passports Found in Kwara – NIS Comptroller

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Kwara Command has disclosed the presence of 3,000 uncollected international passports, as revealed by Alhaji Baba Aliyu, the retiring Comptroller of Passports in the Command.

Aliyu, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) during his retirement party in Ilorin, emphasized the need for the government to impose penalties on individuals neglecting to collect their passports.

He cited issues with incorrect phone numbers provided by applicants, resulting in failed communication attempts.

Aliyu urged applicants to retrieve their passports from the Immigration Office, emphasizing the importance of these documents beyond travel purposes.

He also encouraged Nigerians to utilize the immigration.gov.ng website for a seamless passport application or renewal process, which typically takes just two weeks.
