Kingsley Moghalu Calls for 50% Salary, Allowance Reduction Among Political Office Holders

In light of the economic challenges facing Nigeria, former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghalu, has proposed a 50% cut in the salaries and allowances of political office holders and National Assembly members.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Moghalu emphasized the need for a shift in governance culture, highlighting the necessity for leaders to prioritize public service over self-interest.

Drawing attention to the excessive displays of power within Nigeria’s political landscape, he stressed the importance of instilling a sense of responsibility and accountability among those in positions of authority.

Additionally, he criticized the country’s inclination towards borrowing without directing the funds towards meaningful development, attributing the nation’s economic stagnation to the self-serving behavior of the political class.
