The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has taken action against allegations of ticket racketeering within its operations by suspending nine workers found responsible for fraudulent activities. These actions were prompted by reports of staff members engaging in fraudulent transactions, where they collected cash from passengers but failed to remit it to the government, in addition to being involved in ticket racketeering.

Okhiria emphasized the importance of passengers possessing valid tickets before boarding the train, stating that it is an offense to allow intending passengers without tickets to enter the train. The NRC has implemented measures to prevent unauthorized individuals without tickets from accessing departure halls and platforms.
He further emphasized that strict actions would be taken against anyone caught engaging in such fraudulent activities and reaffirmed the commitment to maintaining proper procedures and ticket verification.”
