Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In an official statement released by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Yemi Adaramodu, the Senate asserted its unity and solidarity as a legislative body. The statement underscored that the rumors of a supposed leadership change within the Senate were entirely fictional and had no basis in reality.
Furthermore, the statement addressed the comparison made to the alleged story of “100 million naira per legislator,” emphasizing that such claims fell under the realm of fabrication and falsehood.
Highlighting the achievements of the 10th Senate under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, Adaramodu pointed out that the Senate had diligently fulfilled its legislative and constitutional responsibilities. The Senate had passed crucial bills and motions within a span of less than 60 legislative days. Additionally, the Senate had conducted rigorous screenings and confirmations for service chiefs, ministers, and other vital roles, in addition to its oversight functions.
The statement concluded by urging any individuals operating outside the Senate, with the intent to sow discord through media sensationalism and thereby undermine Nigeria’s democracy, to exercise caution. It emphasized the need for the Senate to focus on its national duties to advance the Nigerian project. The media was also called upon to exercise discernment and not become unwitting instruments for the dissemination of false or misleading information.
