Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has refuted claims of a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the 80th birthday reception of the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, on Thursday. A TikTok video falsely suggesting this encounter prompted a response from Ex-President Obasanjo, as conveyed in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi.

Obasanjo clarified that he has not seen Bola Tinubu since that visit and emphasized that he is not seeking employment or collaborating with anyone, as suggested by the false news.
The TikTok video, attributed to the profile “asiwajuwoldwidef,” mischaracterized the nature of their interactions and prompted Obasanjo to set the record straight while he is currently in South Africa for the burial of his friend and brother, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Obasanjo recalled the banter from Tinubu’s previous visit when they exchanged playful remarks, but he reiterated that he is not actively seeking work and advised those looking to collaborate with Tinubu to explore other avenues.
