President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Zacch Adedeji, his Special Adviser on Revenue, as the new Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). This decision, made public in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, also includes the directive for the outgoing FIRS Chairman, Muhammad Nami, to commence a three-month pre-retirement leave, in accordance with Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. Mr. Nami’s retirement from service is scheduled for December 8, 2023.

Zacch Adedeji will assume the role of Acting Chairman for a 90-day period before his anticipated confirmation as the substantive Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, expected to serve a four-year term. This appointment is effective immediately.
Zacch Adedeji holds a first-class degree in accounting from Obafemi Awolowo University and has previously served as the Special Adviser to the President on Revenue. His professional journey also includes significant roles as the Oyo State Commissioner of Finance and as the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC).
