Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! In a distressing development, armed personnel from the Nigerian Police in Kaduna State have unleashed live ammunition and teargas canisters on members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), commonly referred to as Shiites, resulting in multiple injuries.
The incident occurred as IMN members embarked on their annual Arbaeen symbolic trek along the Pambegua-Zaria road. The police seemingly staged an ambush against the protesters, utilizing live ammunition and teargas to disperse the crowd.
The chaotic situation in the area has led to panic among passersby, who have sought safety amid the ongoing turmoil. Regrettably, this isn’t the first instance of law enforcement targeting IMN members during peaceful demonstrations; such incidents have occurred multiple times in recent months.
The Arbaeen Trek is an annual religious practice observed by Shiite Muslims, typically taking place on the 20th Safar of the Islamic calendar, marking the 40th day since the martyrdom of Imam Hussein Ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, who was killed on the 10th Muharram.
