Nigerian entrepreneur and investment banker, Atedo Peterside, has expressed concerns about the closure of Niger Republic airspace, warning that it will lead to increased flight costs from Nigeria to Europe.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Over the weekend, the military junta in Niger Republic closed the country’s airspace, issuing a stern warning that any attempt to violate it would be met with an “energetic and immediate response.” This decision came after the deadline set by the West African bloc, ECOWAS, for the junta to return power to the democratically elected President Mohamed Bazoum had expired.
In a statement, the junta declared, “Faced with the threat of intervention, which is becoming clearer through the preparation of neighboring countries, Niger’s airspace is closed from this day on Sunday… for all aircraft until further notice.”
In response to this development, Atedo Peterside highlighted the potential consequences, particularly the increased cost of flights from Nigeria to Europe.
