Court in 2 men for alleged burglary, theft


New Karu (Nasarawa ), June 16, 2023 The police on Thursday arraigned two men in a Zonal Magistrates Court in New Karu, Nasarawa, for allegedly burgling a school and stealing valuables.

The accused, Temitope Adeniyi and Benjamin Isekaa who are of different addresses, are facing trial for criminal conspiracy, negligent conduct and theft.

The, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.

The prosecutor, Insp. Shehu Ndam, told the court that the accused committed the crime on June 6.

According to him, they conspired and criminally entered the premises of Omotayo Montessori School and College located at Agwan Hausawa Road, New Karu.

He said that in the process they stole four laptops, a generator, one unit of a computer system and an internet modem.

The prosecutor, who said the value of the stolen items had yet to be ascertained, informed the court that the offence contravened Sections 97, 196 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Magistrate, Mr Vincent Gwahemba, however, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each and one surety in like sum each.

Gwahemba adjourned the case until July 4 for hearing  (
