Many traders in Umuahia, Abia State capital have expressed happiness over the suspension of the Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele.

The traders who spoke on the development on Saturday evening said Emefiele did not deserve their sympathy in his present predicament.

The traders who spoke at Isi Gate and Orie Ugba markets in Umuahia accused the Emefiele-led CBN of ruining their businesses in the first quarter of 2023 through poor management of the naira redesign policy.

Apart from this, the traders alleged that the suspended CBN Governor proved ‘stubborn’ by not obeying the directives of the Supreme Court concerning the naira issue.

A butcher, Mr Joel Onyekachi said he was yet to recover from the losses he incurred as a result of the cashless challenges of February and March which in most situations, saw him throwing away his perished beef purchase.

Also, fruit dealer, Mrs Kate Amadi said the news about the suspension and detention of Emefiele was one of her happiest moments in life as according to her, “that man and his policy show me pepper. So why I no go happy now?”

She advised Nigerian leaders to be mindful of actions that they take which could affect the general well-being of the citizenry.

To a shoe dealer, Mr Chibuzor Olileanya, the cashless policy was even worse than the current fuel subsidy removal brouhaha.

” There is no way you can compare the two situations. One is better or manageable and that one is subsidy removal.

” Even though the subsidy removal is harsh on us. Even though fuel is costly, you can at least see it to buy. You can have the cash to buy it but in the days of cashless, you can never even see any money to buy anything”, said Olileanya.

The shoe dealer further lamented the poor network system that characterized the cashless period which, according to him, left his money trapped in failed online.(www.naija247news.com)
