A man identified as Ali Abubakar disclosed that he failed to appear before a Shari’a court sitting in Kaduna due to lack of transport fare.

The wife of the man, identified as Ajinomo Ohunenene-Ummi went to court to seek a divorce. However, her husband was nowhere to be found during sitting.

According to the report, the husband of the woman who lives in Abuja told the court messenger, Tajuddeen Saidu that he did not have transport fare from the city to Kaduna for the court sitting.

He however prayed the court to grant the petitioner, his wife the divorce in his absence.

The wife of the man through her lawyer disclosed that she was ready to be set free from the marriage and was ready to return the N50,500 dowry paid by her husband.

The wife also prayed the court to grant her the custody of their one-year-old daughter and order the defendant to pay N20,000 monthly feeding allowance.

However, after the defendant was called on the phone by the court messenger instructed by the judge he disclosed that he could only afford N10,000 monthly but agreed to all the conditions.

Isiyaku dissolved the marriage through Khul’i (redemption) and ordered the petitioner, the wife to keep the N50,500 meant for a refund of the dowry to feed her baby for five months.(
