Actor, producer, director and reality tv show host, Chidi Mokeme has stated his opinion that the new set of Nollywood actors are in the industry for the fame alone, unlike veteran actors who are passion driven.
Chidi Mokeme took a break from acting as he was battling health challenges, until he was spotted lately by Ini Edo who cast him in Shanty Town as he made a grand comeback into the industry.
Speaking in an interview with one of HIP tv crew in an event in Lagos lately, Chidi said “I don’t subscribe to old and new nollywood. I just think that the bottom like is that back in the days, people do this really out of passion.
“These days, people come in because of the flash. What really needs to happen is people who want to come into the industry should recognize that it’s a professional industry. You have to know exactly what you are doing.”
The 51 year old veteran also advised aspiring actors to network appropriately and make the right connections as factor which he says will on the long run be crucial to their success in the industry.
“It’s not difficult to be in the industry. You just have to be ready and know there are thousands of people like you who share the same dreams and aspiration so you know how to put in the work.
