Barcelona recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Sevilla to move eight points clear of second-placed Real Madrid in the La Liga title race.

The Blaugrana took advantage of Real Madrid’s loss to Mallorca to pull clear.

Sergio Busquets limped off injured in the fourth minute with an ankle sprain and was replaced by Franck Kessie.

Sevilla mad life difficult for Barcelona in the first half setting up with five defenders, but Jordi Alba broke the deadlock with a tight finish before the hour mark.

Raphinha set up Gavi with a low pass to allow him to tap into the net for the second goal.

The Brazilian winger finished off an impressive 17-pass team move to scor the third goal for Barcelona.

Xavi has urged his team not to allow Real Madrid fight back in the title race.

“They are still the favourites because they are the reigning LaLiga and Champions League champions,” said Xavi.

“I know that Real Madrid will keep competing until the end. There have been historic comebacks, we can’t let that happen.”

It was Barcelona’s 10th victory in their last 11 league games, they have also conceded just seven goals in the league this season.

Xavi’s men are unbeaten in their last 15 games in all competitions as they aim to win their first league title since 2019.
