The students of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, University of Ilorin, who undertook the 2022 Community-Based Experience and Service (COBES), built 14 community projects across some areas of Kwara.
Dr Muslim Sunmonu, the Faculty Coordinator of the 2022 COBES programme, made this known in Ilorin on Tuesday.
He said that the projects had been delivered to 12 communities in three Local Government Areas – Irepodun, Asa and Ilorin East.
According to him, COBES is an annual exercise meant for the 400 Level students of the faculty.
He said that some of the beneficiary communities were Ilala, Afon, Ogbondoroko, Alufa, Sapati Ile, Okanle, Oke-Ose, Apado, Iponrin, Okeya-p, Owu-Isin, and Amoyo.
He said that the projects executed included painting, renovation of schools, mounting solar street lights at various locations, fixing and repairs of abandoned boreholes.
He said that the renovation of Mosques and palaces, fixing access roads, repairs of dilapidated school buildings, erection of bus-stop, rehabilitation of boreholes and water supply systems were also carried out by the students.
Also, the Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Prof. Olumuyiwa Lasode, expressed satisfaction with the various community projects executed by the students.
Lasode, who also expressed hope for better achievements in the next COBES exercise, congratulated the students on the successful completion of the programme. (www.naija247news.com).
