Dennis joined the club in the summer from Watford for £15million following the Hornet’s relegation to the Championship.
He has failed to nail down a regular starting berth in the team as they struggle to find their feet in the Premier League.
According to reports, Nottingham Forest are considering cashing in on the Super Eagles striker to create space for new signings.
The 25-year-old was an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw against Chelsea on Sunday.
Nottingham Forest signed a whopping 22 players in the summer including another Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi and they are also looking at bringing in more players to strengthen the team.
Dennis will not be eligible to play for any other English club this season after representing Watford in the Championship before joining Nottingham Forest.
According to FA rules, players can not play for three clubs in the same season.
The only viable option is to return to Watford which remains unlikely.
Dennis has started just three matches for Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, scoring just once.
