A senator and former Governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, has said the presidential candidate of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is fit to contest for the presidency following his sterling performance as Lagos governor between 1999 and 2007.
In a statement yesterday, Nnamani knocked those criticising Tinubu’s health status, describing them as political comedians.
He, however, said despite Tinubu’s qualities, he would vote for Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the PDP as a party member.
The statement reads in part: “Tinubu is qualified to run for President of Nigeria in 2023 as there is no evidence that he has dementia. While my vote is covered by the umbrella of my party, PDP, and our candidate, Atiku Abubakar. I take a bow for the hardest working politician of this generation. He patiently paid his dues.”
Nnamani said for Tinubu to succeed he needed to work on improving relationships with many groups, especially “my people, the Igbo.”
He also pointed out the attributes of Tinubu, saying those who he mentored had become giant oak trees in Nigeria’s political firmament.
