Minna, Nov. 13, 2020 The Niger state government has said that the Minna-Bida road reconstruction was still in progress in order to ease the difficulties of commuters.
Mr Ibrahim Balarabe, chairman State Project Monitoring and Implementation Committee, disclosed this during the inspection of the project on Friday.
“Stone base laying has commenced on the Minna-Bida road as the reconstruction project continue to gather momentum.
“The State government’s commitment towards the completion of the project is no longer in doubt considering the progressive pace of work on the road by the contractor handling the project,” he said.
Balarabe urged residents to be more patient and understanding with the state government, adding that Gov. Abubakar Bello was determined to complete the project on schedule.
He pointed out that the project was following due processes in order to meet the standard that would stand the test of time.
Balarabe said that the contractual agreement with the company remained unchanged and both parties remained committed to it.
He explained that the project was for the duration of 18 dry months and would have about 90 culverts, bridges as well as 20cm stone base.
The Project Engineer, Dantata and Sowoe Company, Naafey Shaukat, commended the support and commitment of the state government to the project.
He assured that if the level of commitment exhibited by the State government is sustained, the project would be delivered within the contract duration.
The governor had ordered the re-closure of the road to heavy-duty trucks few weeks back to allow for the speedy completion of the reconstruction work by the contractor.
The Committee also inspected palliative repairs ongoing on some bad portions on Minna-Suleja road.
