Yola, Oct. 29, 2020 Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa has relaxed the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state, saying it will now run from 8 am to 6 pm with effect from Friday.

Fintiri, in a broadcast to the people of the state on Thursday in Yola, said that the development followed the relative peace experience after the violence that trailed the peaceful ENSARS protest.

“I have reviewed the situation in the State with Security Operatives and duly observed that relative calm is returning across the State.

“Government has relaxed the current curfew regime. The new curfew period will run from 8am to 6pm beginning from Friday, 30 October, 2020.

“Meanwhile, checkpoints will be mounted at all the entry and exits points of the State, to stop any attempt by thieves to escape with their loots from the State.

“We shall review the curfew situation as the situation warrants” Fintiri said.
He said the damage done by looters and thieves has reversed the progress made over time in the state.

He pointed out that the people of the state must resist the actions and utterances of those whose aim is to gain political mileage over their collective tragedy and misfortunes.

On the recovered loots, Fintiri said that so far, over 50 per cent of the looted items has been recovered and more are being are being returned.

“We encourage landlords to talk to their tenants, neighbours to talk to each other and parents to talk to their children, should there be any remnants of the loots in any of the households.

“Whistle blowers are doing their best in the recovery process, I encourage them to do more” Fintiri said.

Naija247news reports that the state government declared the 24-hour curfew on Oct. 26 following a violent protest that resulted to the devastation and looting of government and public properties.
