Enugu, Oct. 23, 2020 The Principal of Urban Girls Secondary School in Enugu State capital, Mrs Chioma Ebue on Friday mobilized some youth to remove debris of property destroyed during the EndSARS crisis in the state.

Ebue told NAN that she was shocked to see the level of destruction in her neighborhood in Transekulu during the protest by irate youth and decided to clean up the environment.

“When I came out this morning from my house to check on my neighbours only to discover the level of destruction of property in our streets.

“I quickly mobilised some youths and distributed brooms to them to clean the environment.

“I also bought snacks to encourage them to go extra mile and admonished them to embrace peace at all times,” she said.

Ebue received a presidential award as the first runner up for Best Public Administrator on Teachers Day at the Eagle Square Abuja and the best Principal, South East.

At the Otigba Roundabout on Chime Avenue where some monuments were destroyed, some youths were also seen removing the debris.

The leader of the group, Onyedikachi Ike, apologised to the government and people of the state for the ugly action caused by hoodlums who hijacked the peaceful protests by youths across the country.

“We do not want destruction again in Enugu State. We want to restore the existing peace in Enugu.

“We are sorry for what happened on Wednesday and we are calling on all the youth in the state to come out and join in the clean up,” he said.

NAN reports that some public property and banks were destroyed by irate youths, who hid under the guise of EndSARS protesters and caused mayhem in the state.
