Bokkos (Plateau) Oct. 17, 2020 Mr Alfred Sagai, a retired Justice of the Customary Court, has been sworn in as President, Ron-Murwi Development Association (ROMDA), Bokkos in Plateau.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Sagai was inaugurated on Saturday in Bokkos at a ceremony attended by top government officials, politicians and traditional rulers.

In a speech shortly after the inauguration, Justice Sagai promised to work in synergy with government and security agencies toward promoting peace and unity in the area and the entire Plateau.

He said that ROMDA was not a political party, and described the association as “a people’s movement whose agenda is to foster unity and peaceful coexistance so as to ensure development and growth”.

“Our major goal is to ginger all sons and daughters of Bokkos to join hands with us and the government to ensure that we instill peace across Bokkos land, Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.

“As an association, our doors are open to opinions and ideas that will help cement our togetherness; we intend to work together toward harnessing our God-given resources to stimulate economic growth.

“We have a duty to mobilise our people to work hard and explore our abundant resources. We have to maximise our potential. It is the only path to greatness.

“To be great as a people, we must let the love of God and our love for one another bind us together. We must collectively work to bring smiles to each other’s faces.

“Leadership is both a trust and a burden. We hope to be able to discharge every responsibility placed on our shoulders so as to justify the confidence reposed on us,” he said.

Sagai promised that the Executive Council of ROMDA would establish a well-equipped secretariat in Bokkos town to ease the coordination of its activities, and called for support from the people to meet set goals.

Earlier, Chairman of the occasion, Dr Luka Fomson, had congratulated the newly inaugurated executive council and reminded members of the need to work toward uniting the people of Ron-Murwi nation.

Fomson regretted that the Bokkos economy had been badly hit by persistent crises, and tasked the new leaders to work out a blueprint for the return of peace to the area.

The District Head of Manguna, Saf Alo Raymond, in a remark, described the occasion as “very historic”, and expressed optimism that sanity and peace would soon return to the Ron-Murwi nation.
