Calabar, Oct. 12, 2020 The Cross River Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), says it executed 911 human development micro projects from 2009 till date.

Dr Inyang Asibong, the state Commissioner for International Development Corporation, said this on Monday during a post completion and project sustainability workshop organised by the agency in Calabar.

Naija247news reports that the projects include boreholes, health centres, classroom blocks, culverts, and skills acquisition centres among others in the 350 communities across the 18 Local Government Areas of the state.

CSDA is a World Bank Assisted project which is community driven and designed for improving empowerment, service delivery and local governance through empowerment of people in the local communities.

Asibong said the agency had empowered more citizens at the local government level, with improved service delivery, accountability, transparency and effective communication in the last five years of Gov. Ben Ayade’s administration.

“Between 2009 and now, CSDA has approved and funded 911 micro projects across the state with a view to improving the living standard of rural dwellers,” she said.

The commissioner urged the beneficiaries to sustain the assets created in their various communities.

According to him, the state government will not provide further support to any community that fails to maintain and sustain previous projects in their domain.

The agency’s Board Chairman, Mr Toni Ikpeme commended the communities for implementing their projects according to specification.

Ikpeme also urged them to apply community level strategies to maintain and sustain the assets.

Also speaking, the Acting General Manager of the agency, Mr Fidel Udie, lauded Ayade for funding the agency to provide support to communities, especially in the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr James Obo, one of the beneficiaries from Biase local government area, thanked the agency for providing a healthcare centre to boost healthcare delivery in the area.
