Jos, Oct. 6, 2020 Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has tasked security agencies to redouble efforts toward arresting perpetrators of recent attacks in the state.
Naija247news reports that this is the sequel to another attack on Wereng village, Kuru Station in Riyom Local Government Area.
The governor’s directive is contained in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Macham, on Tuesday in Jos.
Lalong commended the security agencies for achieving some successes in other recent cases, imploring them “to do more in the current situation’’.
He said the attack, which occurred on Monday night where about six people were killed “is disturbing, worrisome and unacceptable’’.
He directed security agencies to take all necessary action toward apprehending the killers and also bring to an end, pockets of isolated attacks on innocent people.
The governor expressed concern over the killings, saying it must be stopped immediately.
He sympathised with families of the victims.
“We will not allow these ugly incidences to return where helpless and innocent people are murdered in cold blood for no reason.
“These killers must be fished out at whatever cost and brought to justice.
“I urge the people to cooperate with the security agencies by providing useful information that will facilitate the arrest of the attackers,’’ Lalong said.
He appealed to Plateau people to increase efforts on vigilance, particularly in intelligence gathering and information sharing through the traditional rulers and other early warning systems of Operation Rainbow.
