President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a special salary scale for teachers and has increased years of service for educators from 35 to 40.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, announced this on Monday in a speech delivered on behalf of the President in commemoration of World Teacher’s Day.

FG approves a special salary scale for teachers, increases years of service from 35 to 40.

He has also approved teachers’ housing scheme in all the local government areas, as well as free tuition for biological children of teachers across the federation.

The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu made the announcement on behalf of the president at the 2020 World Teachers Day Celebration in Abuja.

Adamu revealed that school closure occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic has affected over 1.5 billion students and 63 million primary and secondary school teachers globally.

While revealing that COVID-19 has also affected over 39 million students and pupils in Nigeria, the federal government said it has equally directed the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, to begin the process of removing unqualified teachers from the teaching profession Nationwide.
