Lagos, Sept. 26, 2020 The Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA) on Saturday commended the development, youth empowerment and cultural promotion initiatives of Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos.
The YYA Vice-President, Mr Folorunsho Olaleru, lauded the initiatives during a visit to the Council Chairman, Mr Gbenu Joseph.
Olaleru was accompanied on the visit by Prince Adeshola Shakirudeen, Coordinator, YYA Lagos West and another YYA executive, Mr Hammed Farouk.
The YYA is an umbrella body of Yoruba youths globally, representing 38 affiliates in Nigeria and the Diaspora.
“We commend the executive chairman, Badagry West LCDA for his role and involvement in giving direction and inspiration to the youth of this nation.
” In particular, in the aspect of community service, advancement of humanity, maintenance of peace, youth empowerment and most importantly, promotion of culture and heritage of Yorubaland.
“The Yoruba Youth Assembly is a socio-cultural youth organisation initiated for the unity, development and emancipation of young people of Yoruba nation, both home and in Diaspora.
“YYA is a body that is founded on the principle of patriotism, justice, equity and egalitarianism to actualise harmonious, indivisible and indissoluble Yoruba nation championed by the younger generation of Yoruba in consonance with the dreams and inspiration of Yoruba founding fathers.
“Omoluabi is the name we descendants of Oduduwa call good character and it is the same way we address people like our very unique Honorable Gbenu Henugbe Joseph with such unique human quality,” he said.
Responding, the council chairman, appreciated the YYA’s gesture to build a strong virile society of youths with vision of advancement of the Nigerian project and Yoruba nation.
Joseph advised YYA executives to keep doing what would impact the society at large.
