NDE trains 2,500 youths, women in Kano

Kano, Sept. 23, 2020 The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in Kano State, says it has begun the training of 2,500 youths and women on various trades to improve their social and economic status.

The Director General of the agency, Nasir Argungun, stated this at the inauguration of the training exercise on Wednesday in Kano.

Argungu, represented by Musa Ibrahim, Deputy Director NDE Headquarters, said that the training was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration initiative, to empower the youths and women with skills to enable them to become self reliant.

He said: “The agency is up and doing in training unemployed youths and women in different skills to enable them become self reliant.”

Argungun enjoined the trainees in various skills acquisition centres in the state to be disciplined and use the opportunity to be self employed and employers of labour.

Also speaking, Iliyasu Ahmad, the state Cordinator of the agency, said that 2,200 youths would be trained on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), phone repair, leather work and autotronics.

He said that 200 women would be exposed to cosmetology under the Vocational Skills Department, while 100 others would undergo three month special training programme.

“The training is designed to tackle unemployment, fight poverty and social ills in the society as well as make youths to become self reliant,” he said.

The Coordinator lauded the Federal Government’s policies and programmes aimed at poverty reduction and address youth restiveness in the country.

Some of the beneficiaries, Fauziya Shuaibu and Ahmad Rogo, commended the gesture and promised to be dedicated during the training exercise.
