NGO lauds Zamfara Govt for approving Social Protection Policy

Gusau, Sept.11, 2020 The Zamfara Social Protection Platform, an NGO, has commended Zamfara Government for approving the state Social Protection Policy.

The Chairman, Alhaji Nasiru Biyabiki made the commendation in a statement issued to newsmen in Gusau on Friday.

Newsmen reports that the State Executive Council approved the policy at its meeting on Thursday.

The executive council also approved the formation of the state Social Protection Council and directed the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning to come up with an implementation framework.

Biyabiki said that the policy would help in harmonising social protection activities and programmes in the state as well as reduce poverty level among vulnerable people.

“We thank all the stakeholders who worked day and night to ensure the realization of the policy from zero draft to where we are today.

“Its our ardent prayer that this milestone be one of the sources of having a better society much focused in dousing the poverty level and bridging the gap between vulnerable groups and mainstream society in the state.

“We thank Almighty Allah Who gave us the wisdom and strength to pursue this goal.”

The organisation appreciated the contributions of the State Team Leader, Save the Children lnternation (SCI), officials of Budget and Economic Planning ministry, the media and others who worked towards actualising the policy.

NAN reports that the NGO is comprised of the media, CSOs and the academia, and is being supported by Save the Children lnternation to promote social protection activities in the state.
