The Managing Director of LAGFERRY, Mr Abdoulbaq Balogun, at the celebration of the company’s 100,000th passenger held at Ipakodo Terminal, Ikorodu, assured waterways users maximum commitment of the firm to their safety and security.

Balogun, in a statement by the firm’s Public Affairs Officer, Mr Akeem Odusina, urged residents and businesses in the state to embrace alternative means of transportation, which he said the waterways was ready to provide.

“Today, we are very happy reaching another milestone of commuting our 100, 000th passenger on the 124th day of our operation since the commissioning of our boats by Mr Governor in February this year.

“We thank the Governor of the state, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his unflinching support, and LAGFERRY passengers for their patronage and loyalty.

” We assure them of safety and optimal services on all LAGFERRY boats,” the managing director said.

The LAGFERRY boss reiterated that the agency’s drive was to provide world-class water transportation.

Balogun said the firm would offer safe, fast and reliable services with improved technologies and excellent customer experience on the inland waterways of Lagos.

“The geometric growth of Lagos population at over 22millon asserted enormous pressures on the road transportation option with over 1.6million daily commuters.

” The abundance of natural water bodies covering one-third of the State’s landmass presented us with vast opportunities to explore the ocean economies, including, of course, water transportation.

“The intermodal transport means will further deepen commercial activities, and serves as catalyst to promote tourism in Lagos State,” he said.

Mr Murtala Balogun, who was the lucky 100, 000th passenger, thanked Gov. Sanwo-Olu for providing state of the art boats and ensuring the company adhered strictly to all safety protocols.

The commuter commended the company for providing quality life jackets and being time-efficient.

Naija247news reports that the 100, 000th passenger was presented a souvenir and will be entitled to 10 free trips on LAGFERRY boats from all routes within the state.
