Gusau, Aug. 9, 2020 The Zamfara Agency for Community and Social Development (CSDP), a World Bank intervention project, has embarked on sensitisation of communities within the state on maintenance and sustainability of micro-projects.
Speaking at a one-day capacity building training in Gusau on Sunday, the Permanent Secretary of the agency, Alhaji Garba Muhammad, said that the training was to sensitise the benefitting communities on how to manage and sustain the facilities.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that participants at the programme were drawn from members of Community Projects Management Committees (CPMCs) in the 33 communities across the 13 council areas in the state as well as beneficiaries of the World Bank intervention projects.
Muhammad said that all the 33 communities had benefited from a total of 79 projects, comprising water, electrification, schools, clinics, skills acquisition centres and drainages, worth over N252 million.
“As we are all aware, no matter how qualitative the projects are, without proper maintenance, they cannot be sustained.
“That is why we have invited members of our CPMCs from the benefiting communities for this training,” he said, adding that various resource persons were also on hand to make presentations.
In his remarks, the Operations Manager of the agency, Alhaji Sani Buhari, urged the participants to cooperate with the resource persons in order to benefit from their presentations.
Buhari commended the committees for complying with the World Bank guidelines on project execution.
Also, Malam Umar Nakwada, the Project Officer, Information, Education, Communication and Training of the agency, tasked participants on proper use of electrical appliances.
Nakwada urged the committees to comply with the required ethics while executing the various projects approved by the agency.
Naija247news reports that all the resource persons urged the participants to ensure maintenance of schools and drainages as well planting of trees, among others.
