An Ibadan high chief, Mogaji Adegboyega Adegoke, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to spend the planned borrowing judiciously by investing it on Infrastructure development.
While insisting that nothing was wrong in the government borrowing, he pointed out that such funds should be channeled towards development of infrastructure, providing more jobs and other social amenities for the citizens.
Adegoke gave the advice while addressing journalists during an end of the year party he organised for some of his associates, friends and family members in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He maintained that many Nigerians were against taking of more loans by the government because of past experience in which such funds could not be accounted for.
Adegoke, who is the Executive Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer of OES Energy Services, added it would be better for Nigeria to take more loans if the funds would not be diverted into individuals’ pocket.
The Mogaji of Abose compound in the Olubadan traditional lineage maintained that Nigeria should endeavour to borrow money to develop the country instead of staying aloof to watch citizens to continue to live in abject poverty.
