Ekiti State Deputy Governor Bisi Egbeyemi, has called on the people to vote the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the forthcoming local government elections.
Egbeyemi said the chairmanship and councillorship candidates, who emerged from the primaries conducted by the party are men and women of integrity who are ready to serve the people.
He said voting for the APC candidates would consolidate the good works of Governor Kayode Fayemi at the grassroots.
The number two citizen said Ekiti has never had it so good since the state was created, adding that Fayemi has transformed the state in the last one year and his party deserves massive votes.
Egbeyemi spoke while commissioning projects on behalf of the governor in Itapaji Ekiti, Ara Ekiti, Ikole Ekiti and Ire Ekiti communities as part of activities marking the first anniversary of the Fayemi administration in office.
The projects were executed with funds provided by Ekiti State Community Development Agency (EKSCDA) led by an APC chieftain, Dr. Yemi Alatise.
The local government election to choose 16 local government chairmen and 177 councillors would hold on December 7 under the supervision of the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) chaired by Justice Babajide Aladejana.
Egbeyemi advised the communities to vote for APC so that the massive development cutting across sectors would be replicated in all the 16 local government areas.
According to him, the governor has used his connection with the APC-controlled Federal Government and development partners to attract funds and projects for the benefit of the masses.
The deputy governor stressed that having an APC-led government at the state level and the council level would consolidate development in the grassroots and open them up for transformation.
Egbeyemi said: “I want to urge our people to vote APC at the forthcoming local government election, vote for our candidates for this good work to continue.
“It is because President Muhammadu Buhari is of the APC, that is why my boss and our Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has been able to get many things for Ekiti from the Federal Government.
“Through the efforts of our Governor, we have got funds to construct and rehabilitate rural roads to facilitate access to farms and evacuate farm produce to major towns.
“Besides this, we are laying the foundation stone of Ekiti Airport project as part of activities marking our first anniversary in office.
“The governor is also working to provide access to loans for our farmers, traders, artisans and young men and women to empower them because everybody cannot get white collar jobs.
One of the ways to appreciate the Governor is by coming out end masse during the local government election to vote for the candidates of his party, APC.”
Traditional rulers and community leaders in the towns where the projects were commissioned pledged their support for the APC-led government.
They also promised to vote APC flag bearers at the December 7 local government elections.
The communities also presented their demands to the deputy governor which he promised to pass to the governor for attention.
Projects commissioned by Egbeyemi on behalf of Fayemi include Civic Centres in Itapaji, Ara and Ire while blocks of classroom were commissioned at Ansarudeen Secondary School in Ikole.
