Despite global calls for protection of the environment through tree planting, proper environmental management and practices, a property developer in the Ikoyi (Alexander Avenue) part of Lagos took to the street on Saturday 28, September 2019 to hew down several trees which have existed in the area for more than 30 years. (See video below)
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! This comes as Lagos has been included in the list of cities that are sinking as a result of irresponsible environmental practices (See second video below).
This is happening now and must be stopped. Even outside trees are being removed by the developer. We are calling on the authorities to act now.
We are calling on Dr Dolapo Ayokunle Fasawe, the new head of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) to interviene immediately.
How can these trees be wantonly destroyed like this. Even the ones outside the compound are being destroyed right now. Is there no environmental protection?
No consideration for the effect on the wildlife and climate change!
And save us. Climate change is here. Lagos is sinking!!!!!
