For the much desired peace between the Tiv and the Jukun in Taraba state to be actualized, federal government, according to the Jukun, must as a matter of urgency ensure the demarcation of the 1922/1923 boundary between Taraba and Benue States,

The boundary which according to them “has been drawn already ” but yet to be implemented, “has been the major issue creating conflicts between the citizens of Taraba and Benue States residing in these border areas. ”

The group who converged under the umbrella of Abiu Bauka, Taraba state, who made this known yesterday in a press statement made available to media practitioners in a the state capital, said the immediate cause of the “current crisis ” was never between two persons “as purportedly claimed by the Tiv Youths in Taraba, rather it was the activities of Tiv gang crossing over from Benue State.”

The group who frowned at the decision of the Tiv group to commence the process of recalling the member representing Wukari one at the State House of Assembly, Pius Sabo, over his recent comment on the crisis, viewed such move as “inimical to peace building and conflict management initiatives of the Taraba and Benue State governments.”

Signed by its chairman, Ishaku Adda, said the primary responsibility of the member represent Wukari one in the State House at Assembly “is to ensure the protection of lives and I of his constituents, Taraba and Nigeria as a whole “adding that “his constituents have overwhelmingly voted for him in 2015 and 2019 in order to responsibly represent them. ”

Rather than mapping out plans to recall the member, the Tiv nation, as suggested by the Jukun group, should join hands with the Jukun to press on the Federal government to as a matter of urgency commence the implementation of the demarcation of the 1922/1923 boundary between the duo states.

The group who said the Jukun are in dire need of peace want the relevant authority to call on the Tiv nation to tread the same path by laying down their arms and collaborate with the Killing and other ethnic groups to actualized the much needed tranquility in Wukari councils and the state at large.

Passionately appealing to the Federal government to commence the process of implementing the already demarcated boundary, if done, the incessant upheaval between the two ethnic groups which have led to wanton destruction of lives and property, they believed would be a thing of the past.

Contrary to the Jukun view and demands, the leadership of the Tiv nation are of the opinion that incorporating the Tiv into the Wukari Traditional Council, would go a long way to permanently put to rest the ongoing silence killings between the two communities which in spite of the heavy deployment of security operatives to the areas are still being recorded.
